Shadow Board - Tool Security
Peak VM recently supplied a Shadow Board tool storage solution to an Amazon site in Manchester.
Included in the project was a Key Tracker system used to secure the tools and provide accountability.
The system operates by issuing each user with a key, the key is either colour coded to the individual or their initials are engraved in the key.
When the tool is unlocked the key remains in the lock mechanism while the tool is in use. This provides traceability as it is possible to narrow down who is currently in possession of the tool.
Accountability is enhanced as each user must put their name to the use of the equipment meaning there is obligation to return the equipment when they are no longer using it.
This method is very effective for high value tooling and equipment or when multiple users might have access to the equipment.
